Heavy duty aluminium rear quarter panel to fit all Defender models 1983-2016

This is made from 2mm aluminium for the main part with a 3mm inner bracket
The original quarter panel is made from 1mm aluminium, which if anyone has removed one before know how flimsy they are. This is a lot more rigid, stronger and dent resistant. Yet still looks correct once fitted. We use these on our brand new complete rear body tubs we manufacture and really is what we think Land Rover should have used originally.

The main 2 round light holes are 68mm in diameter which is the correct size for 1994-2016 models. All other replacement quarter panels on the market are made to the earlier smaller hole size, so when fitting to a 1994-22016 models you normally have to file the hole larger by hand. Not with ours! We have found that by using the later larger holes in our panels, it will actually fit both the earlier 1983-1994 models as well as the later models with no modification. As the earlier light cappings (which pop rivet on the top of this panel) will still fit over the larger 68mm holes.

Originally all rear quarter panels are attached using spot welds and pop rivets. However unless you have access to a very large spot welder you will not be able to spot weld them yourself. The best way to fit any new rear quarter panel to a Defender, and is the method used by most, is to use a combination of a PU sealant such as Tiger seal and pop rivets to attach. Where spot welds where originally used, use the Tiger seal and then use the pop rivets when fitting the light capping and tub cappings. Our rear quarter panels come in bare aluminium, which is the best for when bonding these panels. As panels which come in a primer or powdercoat need the coating removed first where you are bonding as no bonding sticks to powdercoating very well. As ours are already bare it saves a another preparation step.
